Robert J. Keane, Ph.D. ("Dr. Bob"), is a clinician with more than 40 years of experience in behavioral health. His approach to therapy is grounded in his belief that lasting change is possible. By fostering emotional support, encouraging self-exploration, and helping clients build confidence in their own capacity for growth, Dr. Bob works collaboratively with individuals to move toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Dr. Bob enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and other life stressors. He understands that every person's story is unique and tailors treatment to each client's individual needs, values, and goals. Above all, he is committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients experience acceptance, trust, and hope.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bob has worked across the full continuum of behavioral health care, from inpatient hospitalization to outpatient psychotherapy. For the past eleven years, he has served as a senior behavioral health administrator in an acute care setting specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. He previously served as Deputy Commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and Regional Director for Boston at the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP), experiences that have given him a deep understanding of both clinical care and the broader behavioral health system.
Dr. Bob is also an author, educator, and thought leader in the field. With Stuart Koman, Ph.D., he co-authored Designing and Operating a System of Care in Behavioral Health (2025) and co-edited A Therapist's Guide to the Multidisciplinary Treatment of Eating Disorders (2026). He earned both his master's degree and Ph.D. from the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work, where he currently serves on the faculty.
